Lady Gaga Doesn’t Boycott Her Arizona Show

Lady Gaga turned down pleas for her to cancel her “US Monster Ball Tour” date in Arizona. However from the stage she did denounce Arizona’s new immigration laws.

Gaga had received a lot of pressure to cancel the show in protest.  One group which has strongly opposed Arizona’s new laws has been the band Rage Against The Machine.  They have persuaded a number of different performers to boycott playing shows in Arizona, including Kayne West and Maroon 5.

Lady Gaga, speaking on stage, attacked the Arizona immigration laws as well as boycott plans.  She said, do you seriously think pop stars can shut the state down?  Do you think dumb pop stars like us will collapse Arizona’s economy?  What we need to do in terms of SB 1070 is be active and actively protest.

She added, I am not canceling my show.  What I will do is hold you, we will hold onto each other.  We are going to protest this state.  We can’t be afraid.  Without all the immigrants the country would have nothing.  I really mean that.  I mean that deep in my soul.
