Lady Gaga returns to SNL, performs LIVE on HBO

Posted by Chase Jackson On April - 22 - 2011

Lady Gaga paves the way for the release of her third studio effort, “Born this Way”, in a big way, or ways.

First off, Gaga’s two-night Madison Square Garden gig, dubbed as Lady Gaga Presents The Monster Ball Tour: At Madison Square Garden, will be presented by HBO all throughout May, starting on the 7th at 9 PM. The concert was recorded over two nights, from February 21 to 22, and features live performances of Gaga’s chart topping hits like “Bad Romance”, “Alejandro”, “Poker Face”, “Just Dance”, “Telephone” and her current single, “Born this Way” brought to life on stage through a ten-man live band, ten backup dancers, choreography from the singer’s dance pal Laurieann Gibson, and the tenacious stage presence of the Queen Monster herself, Lady Gaga.

The HBO special will be followed by the singer’s guest performance at the season finale of Saturday Night Live, to be hosted by Justin Timberlake. The episode will air on May 21, just two days before the singer’s album hits the shelves. The last time Gaga appeared in the iconic sketch show was in October 2009, where she acted alongside fellow music icon and royalty, Queen of Pop Madonna, in the “Deep House Dish” sketch of the said episode.

“Born this Way” hits stores on May 23.

Elton John names Lady Gaga as his baby’s godmother

Posted by Chase Jackson On April - 22 - 2011

After much speculation, singer Elton John finally confirms that pop chart topper and “Born this Way” diva Lady Gaga is the godmother of little Zachary, the little tyke that he shares and raises with his long time partner, David Furnish. They shared the news with Barbara Walters, whose interview with the couple was sneak-previewed in ABC’s ‘Good Morning America’. The couple was in NYC to support the Cameron Crowe documentary “The Union”, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. The film featured the musical collaboration between John and long time pal and fellow music icon, Leon Russell, which earned Grammy nods for both artists.

“Yes, yes she is. When you get to the real person under there, there’s a real simple person under there who loves her parents,” John says. David Furnish adds more insight on the matter by saying, “Zachary’s going to inherit an incredible musical legacy from his father one day, and she will be a good person to guide him through the ins and outs of the music business, ’cause she sure knows everything about the business now.”

A considerable amount of attention was drawn to the topic by virtue of Gaga’s closeness to the couple, particularly to Elton John. On the April 2 episode of ‘Saturday Night Live’, which the British singer/songwriter hosted, he already gave away the news by way of a joke: “For those of you concerned that we are unusual parents, do not worry. It’s not like we are the only two people involved in the child’s life. His godmother is Lady Gaga. That’s true, that’s not a joke … which is ironic because I’ve always said that Mars ain’t the kind of place to raise your kids. And Gaga loves Mars. She says Mars has good schools and great discos.”

Lady Gaga Just Says No to Plastic Surgery

Posted by Chase Jackson On April - 13 - 2011

Lady Gaga, the 25 year old superstar, says cosmetic procedures help to promote insecurity.

In the latest Harper’s Bazaar issue Gaga says, I’ve never had any plastic surgery done. So many pop singer have.

I think plastic surgery promotes insecurity and is much more harmful than artistic expression which relates to body modification.

How many actresses and models are on the covers of magazines who have just had plastic surgery and have new faces. I haven’t ever had plastic surgery done.

I’m an artist. I have the free will and ability to choose how the world is going to envision me.

Gaga defends her sharp, protruding bones she has lately been sporting.

They are my bones. They are not prosthetics, Gaga said.

When I am inspired, they come out.

I’ve always had them inside of me. I’ve waited until the time was right to reveal who I really am to the universe.

Gaga also believes Alexander McQueen, the deceased fashion designer, lives on via her music.

Gaga said, I think the whole thing was planned by him. I wrote my songs for “Born This Way” just after he died.

He is up in heaven, I think, handling the fashion strings, planning the whole thing and marionetting away.

She sees the decision by her record label to release her new single one year after McQueen died as more evidence.

When I heard they were releasing in on the anniversary of his death, I knew the whole thing had been planned by him. I didn’t write that song even. He did.

Lady Gaga’s new Judas video offensive to some

Posted by Chase Jackson On April - 11 - 2011

Laurieann Gibson, creative director for Lady Gaga thought about not directing the star’s upcoming ‘Judas’ video because of its proliferation of religious overtones. In the beginning, Gibson was unsure of the way the video would turn out. The single, which is set to be released on April 19, is co-directing the video for the song.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gibson said, “I was like, ‘Listen, I don’t want lightning to strike me! I believe in the gospel and I’m not going there.” Gaga tends to go to the edge in her videos, and with this particular video, she may have gone too close to the edge until the video was revamped to reign in the potential controversy.

Gibson stated, “It was amazing because to have that conversation about salvation, peace and the search for the truth in a room of non-believers and believers, to me, that was saying God is active in a big way. And the place that it came to is surreal.”

Gaga and Gibson have been collaborating since before she signed a contract with Interscope Records. Gibson recalls instructing Gaga on all aspects of performing such as “how to use the microphone, hot to look out into the crowd, and how to stay in the zone.”

Even though she has been through a lot with Gaga, Gibson would not have hesitated to refuse to direct the ‘Judas’ video if the changes had not been made. She stated, “We don’t touch on things that we have no right touching upon, but the inspiration and the soul and idea that out of your oppression, your darkness, your Judas, you can come into the marvelous light…We’ve created a new Jerusalem.”

Gibson was first recognized for her work as choreographer on Diddy’s ‘Making the Band’ and based on her assessment, Gaga is going to be “dancing her face off” in the ‘Judas’ video.

Move Over Britney Spears, Lady Gaga is the freshest face in pop

Posted by Chase Jackson On April - 10 - 2011

About every ten years, a person rises to the top of the music industry and turns the entire pop culture on its head by presenting fans with something that is entirely new. This person has been Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Jimi Hendrix. For 2010, this person is Lady Gaga.

It has been a whirlwind experience trying to keep up with Lady Gaga ever since she landed in our field of vision wearing a neck brace made out of black feathers and a Phantom of the Opera mask. She blew everything anyone thought they knew about pop stars completely out of the water.

Lady Gaga has thrown down the gauntlet with her over-the-top costumes and racy music videos. People are not comfortable when they watch her bloody concerts, but they certainly can’t look away either.

Britney Spears has blatantly tried to copy Lady Gaga’s style in her most recent videos, including “Hold it Against Me” where she appears in an over-sized wedding dress and has pain fly from her fingers. But it can’t hold a candle to the original. Spear’s video for “Til The World Ends” is simply more of the same performances she has

given the pop world since she got rid of her school girl costume.

Once Christina comes back, she will probably try to follow in Gaga’s footsteps as well.

Essentially, it all comes down to the fact that Lady Gaga is the face of pop music and it doesn’t appear that anyone is going to challenge her title.

Lady Gaga Soon to be a Member of ‘Modern Family’?

Posted by Chase Jackson On April - 7 - 2011

Lady Gaga, the multi-tasker, wants to have a guest spot with “Modern Family,” the television comedy show that stars Sofia Vergara. Reportedly Gaga is a huge fan. However Jesse Tyler Ferguson, one of the hit show’s stars, says he is afraid it would be almost impossible to incorporate such a huge superstar like Lady Gaga seamlessly into the script.

On Ferguson’s April 6th “Live With Regis and Kelly” appearance, the actor revealed that Gaga had reached out, saying she wanted to be involved with the show. How can Lady Gaga be incorporated into “Modern Family,” he said. Hey if Kay Perry and Britney Spears can make guest appearances on “How I Met Your Mother” episodes, then it
seems plausible and entirely possible that the writers of the show could get very creative and incorporate Gaga into one of their episodes, whether she was playing herself or not. It could definitely give the show a big boost in the ratings.

Ferguson explained, whether Gaga steps on the show’s set or not, “Modern Family” will be featuring Gaga in spirit. She will be part of the story’s arc in an upcoming episode. My character Mitchell wants to see Lady Gaga in concert. Cameron is going to go but ends up sick and expects me to stay home to care for him. Maybe I drug him just a bit and sneak out to see the concert.
