Sting will be kicking off the concert series for NBC’s “Today Show” on May 14 outside the New York City television show’s studios at Rockerfeller Plaza and 49th Street. Sting will be playing a half an hour’s worth of music helping NBC to launch their 15th year in a row of “Today” concerts.
The series this year is called “Toyota Concert Series on Today.” It continues bringing some of music’s biggest names to the Plaza. They include Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga and Carrie Underwood.
The series in 2010 will be be featuring performances from Carole King and James Taylor, Maroon 5, One Republic, The Script, Katy Perry, Train, John Mayer, Rascal Flatts, Enrique Iglesias, Ke$sha, Maxwell and Keith Urban. “Today” on June 3 will be welcoming the still to be determined winner and runner-up for “American Idol.”
Concerts take place on Friday mornings. They are available to view on first come, first serve basis. Organizers for the event suggest arriving at 6 am for best viewing.
